The Maples Academy was founded in 1989 under the name The Maples Independent Country School. The school was established to provide a higher quality alternative education with a ‘back to the basics’ approach and a focus on strong moral values. For 35 years, The Maples has provided a superior education for our students from preschool to Grade 8. We are proud to serve the communities of Orangeville, Caledon, Shelburne, Grand Valley and the counties of Dufferin, Wellington, Simcoe and Peel.
In March of 2014, The Maples was purchased by the owner and CEO of St. Jude’s Academy and Oakwood Academy in Mississauga, Aaron Sawatsky. With its new ownership, The Maples Academy became the only school in the Orangeville area offering the highly respected International Baccalaureate program.
Throughout the academic year, our family of schools (St. Jude’s Academy, The Maples Academy, Oakwood Academy) posts topical articles on important issues concerning the whole community of The Maples Academy. Parents, students and faculty can read up on what makes The Maples Academy different, including information on the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme, the benefits of a student-centred program, how our curriculum prepares students for university and more. The family of schools articles also share TMA happenings, overviewing the exciting events that took place and keeping everyone excited for what’s to come in upcoming events.
